A mere 30 miles south of the California/Mexico border
is a coastal paradise just waiting for you to discover. Whether you prefer
to fish from the rocks, explore tidal-pools, go golfing, surf, tan at the pool,
go shopping or do a multitude of other activities, you'll be sure to
enjoy yourself!
Las Gaviotas is a private
community developed by American interests, with 24 hour security, only eight
miles from the picturesque resort town of Rosarito Beach.
We offer luxury two and three bedroom houses, with
cable TV, all the amenities and ocean views. One of our two bedroom houses is an
oceanfront property.
The
waves are great, the accommodation is surprisingly affordable, and the location
cannot be beaten. You are close enough to the bustling activities of TJ
(Tijuana for the uninitiated!) to enjoy the sometimes frenetic nightlife, yet
sufficiently far away to experience the peace and solitude of the most hollow of
waves or most challenging of golf courses.
If shopping is your game, ceramics,
leather goods, baskets, clothing, jewelry, prescription drugs and a host
of other items are readily available at the dozens of stores nearby. An
increasing number of visitors are utilizing the resources of Rosarito to have
custom furniture made at very attractive prices!
Puerto Nuevo, home
to some of the world's finest lobsters at unbelievable prices, is just around
the corner, while Agua Caliente Racetrack, Jai Alai and one of the finest bull
rings in Mexico are all just a short drive away.
Whale-watching boats depart from the sport fishing docks in Ensenada, (45
minutes south of Las Gaviotas), between the months of December and April.
Take
a 5 minute drive to the 20th Century Fox Film Studios & have a
behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the movie 'Titanic', or book into a
nearby spa for a massage, skin treatment, or other treatment.
Baja California
has been a legendary destination for fun-lovers from not only the USA, but from
around the world. Come and discover the magic for yourself!
Directions
Getting to Las Gaviotas is really easy!
Take either Interstate 5 or Interstate 805 south towards the Mexican border.
Make sure you exit the freeway at Via San Ysidro, about a mile before the
border, for Mexican
Insurance.
As you cross the border, a red or green light will be activated. This
is done completely randomly. Green means proceed, while if you get a red,
you will be directed to a customs-inspection area. Don't be nervous. Just
wind down your windows and let the officials take a peek. They might want to
look inside your trunk or under the seats. This is quite normal. When they are
satisfied that you have no guns or drugs in your vehicle, they will wave you
through.
As you depart the customs-inspection area, keep right, making sure you stay
under the "Ensenada/Rosarito Scenic Route" signs.
Wind along 6 1/2 miles of road & you will come to
the first toll booth, where you will need to pay approximately (US) $2.00.
This is a great road & well-worth the bucks. 15 miles from that toll, is
another toll. (There's a Pemex gas station there in case you need gas or
refreshments.)
8 short miles later, and
you'll
come to an exit that says "Puerto Nuevo/Cantamar". Turn right,
so you are now heading north, (the way you've come from), and drive for about
a mile. You will see the White Horse liquor store on the right.
Stop and pick up some Corona, lime and tequila. Las Gaviotas is opposite the
White Horse. Tell the security guards at the gate who you are and where you'll
be staying & kick back!
